Heavy char is meant seriously, the 75 barrels having an unusual level five char. Enduring a full minute and a half of flame, these barrels are charred about twice as long as typical bourbon barrels. The burn is so deep that layers of oak start to peel away, allowing the whiskey access to both charred and uncharred wood. Heaven Hill is back with an addition to the Parker’s Heritage Collection, which honors their beloved late distiller, Parker Beam. This series, released annually, has included highlights like orange curaçao finished bourbon, wheat whiskey (cask strength and 13 years old) and an eight-year-old malt whiskey. The nose is unimaginable similar to I was remaining in field of pine trees. The sense of taste is shockingly sweet with flavors that truly balance out the scorch smoke. The completion is velvety with the rough the zest and singe flavors.

Scents foamy. Some unripened bananas. As a matter of fact a decent nose. Tastes like... dissatisfaction. Opens up sooner or later. Some phony peanuts some harsh chocolate. Its strong yet nothing sticks out. My desires were messed up. 12/6/19

Tasting Notes

Nose

Rye spice and barrel char best characterize the nose, however they have to fight through a wall of ethanol heat to make their presence known.

Taste

Heat up front gives way to dark fruits and leather followed by a crescendo of spice. It’s nearly one dimensional, with heat and spice taking the forefront against the other flavors present.

Finish

Flavors open up in the finish, with caramel, baking spices, seasoned oak, and clove coming forward with ferocity. Rye spice slowly comes back into play without the accompanying heat present before, making for a nicely balanced sweet-spice combination that lingers for some time.
