For the first time since 2016, The Macallan distillery has added two new editions to their Double Cask series of traditional single malt scotch whiskey. Highly anticipated, these two new comers have slightly raised the bar with 43% ABV for each. The Macallan 18 year old double cask single malt in this series is particularly noteworthy with a nose full of sherry bouquet, blackberries, honey, and a bite of ginger for a burst of zest. Leather and blueberries enter the mix for a truly rich aroma. The taste is refreshing and surprising too. Layered in between tugs of honey and sweet raisin is a rinse of herb and Earl Grey tea. A dash of nutmeg and cinnamon over warm toffee fudge soon take over for a wonderfully indulgent profile.
