A limited release bottled in 2014. To be expected from this distillery, a stunning presentation and the second oldest bottling, next to the 40 year old. Following on their their phenomenal 40 year old release a little while back, the Old Pulteney distillery in Wick have produced another stunningly well-aged single malt. The limited edition 35 year old was matured in American ex-bourbon and Spanish ex-Sherry casks, selected specially for this release by Old Pulteney distillery manager Malcolm Waring, and bottled with no chill-filtration at 42.5% ABV. It comes presented in a wooden case featuring a porthole - a reference to Old Pulteney's close relationship with all things nautical.…

About the brand

The Pulteney Distillery is a malt whisky production and aging facility in the Pulteneytown area of Wick, Caithness, in the Highland area of Scotland. The distillery produces the Old Pulteney single malt whisky at a number of ages and has a visitor centre in Huddart Street. With traditional warehouses exposed to the invigorating sea air blowing in off the North Sea, Old Pulteney captures the taste of the sea in every drop of its liquid gold. From subtle coastal chords to more defined salty notes, the flavour of our whiskies says much about the role and influence of our home. Our whiskies range from award winning, definitive single malts to critically acclaimed limited edition releases, each defined and shaped by our inspiringly distinctive and lively coastal location.

46% ABV Variant Nose - Coated raised doughnuts fruity flower nectar caramel chocolate secured mints heated natural products Taste - Prepared organic products apples pears brilliant raisins apricot coat dim nectar toffee espresso chocolate Finish - Genuinely short however wonderful caramel dull nectar prepared apples/pears light mocha froth light salt at long last shows up Score - 90/100 Last Contemplations - Genuinely inconspicuous nose sets aside a touch of effort to truly open up. Pleasant flavors on the sense of taste yet unfortunately somewhat slim and watery for the age. It despite everything had that old" feeling in the preference for that everything appeared to be very much merged together yet recently came up short on that pleasant rich and complex mouthfeel. Exceptionally decent mix of flavors and it requires a significant stretch of time to completely meet up. I'm extremely happy to have had the option to attempt this however I think I'd be baffled in the event that I had a full container of this as I might suspect the 21 improves. Would I drink it whenever advertised? - Yes Would I explicitly arrange it? - Perhaps Would I purchase a container? - No"

Tasting Notes

Nose

Thick, juicy slices of fruit cake, with cocoa and toffee sauce drizzled on top. Clementine segments and vanilla pods.

Taste

More citrus notes, with honey-nut cereals and plump raisins. Sherried spices, old leather and a waft of sea-breeze.

Finish

Long and rich with plenty of raisins along the way.
