This rich blend from Chivas has been aged for 21 years in oak casks before being bottled in handcrafted porcelain flagons. The Royal Salute was launched on 2nd June 1953 as a celebration of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Its name stems from the 21 Gun Royal Salute, which is fired as a mark of respect for monarchs and other dignitaries on special occasions. Pleasant whisky: sensitive and fruity on the button with traces of orange strip and pears and a sense of taste rich with sweet wood flavors hazelnut and singed oak. The body is somewhat level and the completion a touch short still... I like it.
