Single Barrel Vintage Bourbon 750ml
Single Barrel cask strength refers to the distillation process used in a particular bottle of whiskey. Single bottle bourbon selectins are distilled in one barrel which adds a bold and unique flavor special to the specific type of barrel used in the fermentation and production process of the whiskey in question. The size of the wood chunks in the barrels used during the creation process of a particular whiskey variety, the conditions in which the barrels are stored, and a lot of other factors will impact the overall flavor profile of your selected bourbon whiskey option. There are various types of barrels used in the production of bourbon whiskey all varying in size and material. Evan Williams uses new charred white oak barrels for most of their selections.

About the brand
In 1783, our namesake opened Kentucky’s First Distillery on the banks of the Ohio River. Many years and barrels later, we still produce Bourbon the right way, using the same time-honored methods. Although bottled in Bardstown, the product is distilled at the Heaven Hill distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. The "standard issue" Evan Williams bourbon is sold as the mass-market "Black Label" variety. The company also bottles several other varieties, including a "White Label" that is bottled in bond, an "Evan Williams 1783" bourbon that is produced in more limited quantities, and a nine-year-old single barrel bourbon sold in vintage-dated bottles sealed with black wax. Occasionally available in some regions is a "Green Label" variety that is 80 proof and represents a younger, lighter-bodied version of the bourbon found in "Black Label" bottles at a more affordable price. As of 2010, Evan Williams was the second largest-selling brand of Kentucky straight bourbon (following the market-leading Jim Beam brand) and had the fastest-growing market share among the top-volume American whiskey brands (with a 12.4% sales growth rate), according to a press release issued by the producer citing A.C. Nielsen Scantrack 2010 data. Evan Williams Black is 43% alc/vol (86 U.S. proof), unlike some popular whiskeys which are bottled at the statutory minimum of 40% alc/vol (80 proof).

I enjoyed it. Not too sweet and not too spicy. A decent, budget, bourbon. I pick it up regularly.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Rich and floral with perfumed leater, lilac, prunes and ginger caramel. Very delicate and floral.
Taste
Not as sweet as the nose suggests. Surprisingly little oak influence for a bourbon as old as this. Barley sugar, baked apple, Autumn berries, particularly apple and pear, and some dark chocolate and menthol notes.
Finish
A faint but distinctive and insistent sweet caramel flavour lingering. Very moreish.
