The 11th edition of this acclaimed single barrel series from the Heaven Hill distillery. The name comes from Heaven Hill's late master distiller, Parker Beam, and each bottling is designed to be a tribute to his expertise. This 11 year-old bourbon release from Heaven Hill marks the 11th Edition of the Parker's Heritage Collection, named for master distiller emeritus Parker Beam. Expect to see slight variations regarding flavor as is to be expected with single barrel releases. Parker was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also called ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2010 and passed away in early 2017. The last four editions beginning with Promise of Hope have helped to raise money for ALS research and patient care. That continues with this edition which Heaven Hill has promised to donate $10 of each bottle sold to the ALS Association. This is expected to hit shelves in September 2017.…

So I got a pour of this for 20 bones. Delightful nose with exceptionally common notes of vanilla. Extraordinary consistency rich oaky tones while holding the vanilla. Digging in more profound I discovered nectar secured crostini with a warm peppery completion. I don't think I'll get it once more however I'm excited I got the opportunity to taste it.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Bountiful notes of tobacco, raisins, caramel, and cherry make this bourbon a delight to nose. Trace amounts of ethanol and bitterness are also present, but are overpowered by heavier oak notes.

Taste

Heavy notes of oak, tobacco, and cinnamon come blasting to the forefront of the sip. The proof is evident, as a strong blast of heat comes immediately. After the heat subsides, a creamy consistency materializes along with faint notes of candy corn, baking spice, and fireball candy.

Finish

It’s a bit baffling and surprising how straightforward this finish is coming from a Parker’s release. Heavy notes of oak dominate with a healthy amount of dryness. It’s a bit too powerful tasting for its own good, as too many of the palate’s flavors get completely drowned out by the heat in the finish.
