Winner of the Gold Medal at both the 2013 Beverage Tasting Institute (BTI) and the 2013 International Spirits Challenge, Laphroaig Quarter Cask Double Cask Matured Single Malt is made using spirit matured in two barrels made of American oak, and still-maturing whisky from our standard ex-bourbon barrels which is then transferred to quarter casks and left to rest in the Laphroaig warehouse. The use of the smaller casks, ensures maximum contact with the oak, and creates a soft edge to complement the distillery's usual distinctive peatiness. …

To be appreciated best in South Africa in the Kruger Park late around evening time after a braai while neglecting the waterway seeing creatures prowling in obscurity while absorbing the smell of a pit fire longing for vanilla skies.

Tasting Notes

Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.

Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.
