A blend of various grain whiskies aged in a mix of seasoned ex-Bourbon barrels and new American White Oak for a unique and full flavour profile. This whisky is made from rye, barley, and maize (corn), much like many bourbons on the market. The difference here, aside from geography, is that the whisky maker chooses to distill each grain type individually. They are aged anywhere from 6-10 years in various degrees of charred barrels (lightly charred for rye, medium char for barley, and heavy char for corn) before being blended together. Before bottling, however, the blend spends a final 6 months in ex-Sherry barrels.…

Most likely the best modest rye blender out there. Wasn't the best flawless.

Profound rich and smooth with sweet consumed butterscotch and oak. Great however excessively rich/a lot of charcoal for my taste. $29 in Ontario.

Tasting Notes

Nose

lots of sweet notes. Butterscotch, very much like Werther's Originals, caramel popcorn, rich and deep brown sugar notes, and light rye spice in the background. Take your time and let it breathe and you may notice some nuttiness in the background and a slight savoury note. Very full and inviting.

Taste

Rich arrival, surprisingly rich for a 40% ABV whisky, more butterscotch/caramel, a bit of milk chocolate, very light rye and pepper notes in the background with a bit of a light citrus note throughout.

Finish

Medium length, buttery and sweet with hints of berries (blackberries, raspberries) making an appearance. This is a very friendly whisky.
