Comprised of a unique blend of three different whiskeys, the Heaven’s Door Double Barrel finishing process utilizes hand toasted, new American Oak barrels for a secondary aging worthy of another year’s wait. Double Barrel’s high proof balances perfectly with the complexity of its flavor and notes of caramel, oak, citrus, and spice. Heaven's Door is a whiskey brand developed in collaboration with Bob Dylan. The bottles feature iron gates created by Dylan in his studio, Black Buffalo Ironworks, which were made from found objects from across America including “everything from farm equipment, children’s toys, kitchen utensils and antique firearms to chains, cogs, axes and wheels.” As for the whiskey, it is made from three different whiskeys and finished in toasted, new American oak for an additional year. About the brand

The Heaven's Door range of whiskey have been created by Bob Dylan (yes, actual Bob Dylan, the legendary songwriter) and Marc Bushala (founder of Angel's Envy Bourbon), made in a church in Tennessee. This expression is made with a mash bill featuring 30% "small grains", and the spirit is allowed to age for at least 8 years in American oak barrels. The bottle features a design from Dylan's own wrought ironwork, and the name is of course a reference to his song 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door'.

On the button it isn't not at all like Michter's American yet with more oak. Way more oak. That made me a little trepidatious. My first couple of little brisk tastes that was the subject very oaky impact. On the third taste I bit it for some time and discovered this brilliant blast of flavors and nuttiness to go with the fundamental caramel and the oak which was still there yet had settled go away from plain sight. I let it sit for a piece and came back to it and the glass had truly opened up. Flavors and caramel drove the way. Certainly some nuttiness and still the oak yet it no longer appeared as crude. Before the finish of the glass it was a bourbon I was completely appreciating and I'm making a plunge for another glass. The completion is something different. As yet grappling with precisely what it is. It is somewhat dry kind of herbally with maybe some liqorich in there. I'm as yet not certain. Not disagreeable by any means however absolutely not a completion of the sort I've stumbled into with any recurrence more like a rum than a whisky
